Shri Rāghavendra Swamy Ārādhane- Bengaluru, India 2023

September 3rd, 2023

Surabhi Badri- Grade 5 student at 'Ankura' performed two thrilling dance pieces, Misra Alaripu and Thodayamangalam.

'Alaripu' is dance piece that serves as an introductory item, typically performed at the beginning of a dance recital to invoke blessings and set the rhythm and energy for the performance. In this case, the 'Misra' alaripu is the rhythmic pattern that involves a 7 beat cycle.

"Jaya Janaki Ramana" is a vibrant Thodayamangalam dance that celebrates the victory and glory of Lord Rama, characterized by lively, rhythmic movements & expressions. It captures the essence of devotion and triumph in Hindu mythology.

"Dancing in India, especially in my home town, was definitely a memorable experience. I was very delighted to perform on a stage in front of my Grandparents, relatives and friends. This was located at the temple so I put in a lot of effort during the holidays to practice for this dance as a Seva to God. I am very grateful for my teacher, who created and taught this amazing choreography to me." - Surabhi
