Lakshmi Srinivasan who is a strong believer of the above perspective has carved a niche for herself in the field of Bharatanatyam. She is a highly passionate and accomplished performer, tutor and choreographer pursuing excellence in two distinct forms of Indian classical dance: Bharatanatyam & Bharatanrityam.

Artistic Director
Lakshmi Srinivasan is the founder and Artistic Director of Ankura School of Dance, where she trains students in Coventry, Rugby, and the West Midlands. Her Bharatanatyam journey began at the age of five under the mentorship of Dr. Shubharani Bolar in Bangalore, India, following the Pandanallur tradition. She further deepened her expertise by earning a Master’s Degree in Performing Arts (Dance) from Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain University, where she trained under distinguished Gurus.
Lakshmi is also trained and certified in the Karanas—108 classical movements described in the Sanskrit dramaturgical text, Natyashastra—under Dr. Shobha Shashikumar in Bangalore, India. Since 2020, she has been undergoing advanced training in nattuvangam, a South Indian rhythmic art form involving cymbals and vocal recitation, under the guidance of the renowned Vid. D.V. Prasanna Kumar, also based in Bangalore.
Lakshmi Srinivasan was awarded Licentiate status by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD), London, in March 2024. This esteemed advanced teaching qualification reflects her exceptional proficiency as a dance educator. She is dedicated to mentoring her students and regularly prepares them for ISTD Grade examinations, where they have consistently attained impressive results.
