Ugadi 2023 - "The beginning of a new age"

Updated: Apr 14, 2023

Shree Saanvi - Grade 3 student at ' Ankura' has choreographed and performed an exhilarating dance piece dedicated to VARĀHA AVATARA ( the boar) - the third of the 10 incarnations of the Hindu God "Vishnu". ( WATA, Warwickshire Telugu Association, Rugby, UK).

This is her interpretation

"Lord Vishnu took birth during the Satya Yuga as a boar to save the world and held earth on the two tusks from under the ocean. Varaha avatar is represented in full animal form or with the head of a boar and the body of the man. He is shown as the colossal boar with the Earth which clings to one of his tusks. In half human and half- animal form, he is often portrayed standing with one leg bent supporting Bhumi Devi.

As per the Hindu mythology, it was the demon named Hiranyaksha who dragged the Earth to the bottom of the sea. Lord Vishnu took the form of a boar to rescue it. They fought for a full thousand years. Varaha avatar slew the demon and raised the Earth out of the waters using his tusks.

|The divine purpose of this avatar was to restore dharma ( righteousness) and save the planet earth from the hands of the asuras( demons). It is believed that worshipping Lord Varaha brings all kinds of happiness to the devotees including health, prosperity and wealth.

I am so proud of my guru who is a role model to me always inspires and encourages to choose my favourite pieces to which I have thoroughly enjoyed performing".
